A few Twitter Tips (from @jillbromen):

  1. On an ipad or smartphone- DOWNLOAD the Twitter App... Twitter has missing functions on ipad's Safari
  2. Choose a shorter vs. longer username- every character counts in every message!
  3. DON'T lock or protect your tweets- it just turns twitter into a closed email-ish system, losing the power of crowdsourcing & connections
  4. DO fill in your bio & add a photo. Mention something about education so other teachers/ educators will be more likely to connect!
  5. DO write a tweet or two right away to get started!
  6. DO follow many people right away... I suggest following the first 50-75 people you find when searching #edchat
  7. DO lurk around a bit.. get to know what's out there and start gathering resources
  8. DO RT (retweet) some tweets you find helpful or interesting
  9. DO use shorthand and abbreviations- it's ok, it's another language!
  10. DO use the @ sign when referring to someone else- then they'll know you mentioned them! :)
